Actor Steven Culp, known to 'Desperate Housewives' fans for his role as the late Rex Van De Kamp

Actor Steven Culp, known to "Desperate Housewives" fans for his role as the late Rex Van De Kamp, stars in the new family movie "Firehouse Dog," opening Wednesday.

In "Firehouse Dog," the hottest dog-actor in Hollywood, Rex, goes missing when, during a sky-diving stunt for a movie, his parachute does not open. After wandering aimlessly for a while, he is adopted by the tumbledown fire department of a small, sleepy town. Rex teams up with Shane Fahey, the twelve-year old son of the captain of the firehouse, to save the future of the fire department.

"Firehouse Dog" reunites Culp with Bruce Greenwood. Greenwood played JFK and Culp played Robert Kennedy in the 2000 Kevin Costner movie "Thirteen Days." (Culp has played Robert Kennedy twice, previously in the 1996 TV movie "Norma Jean & Marilyn.")

Among other things, he talks about the death of Rex on Desperate Housewives, his deaths on JAG and Enterprise in the same week, his haircuts on Enterprise and JAG and being in San Francisco at the moment rehearsing the play Blackbird.
