Steven Culp on Stage in Theater Productions

Apart from appearing on television and in movies, Steven Culp has shown his talent in theater plays as well. Over the last three decades he has appeared in numerous theatrical productions, on Broadway, off-Broadway, and at regional theaters across the country: from Shakespeare's plays "Much Ado About Nothing," "Richard III," and "Julius Caesar" to Terrence McNally's "Lisbon Traviata" and A. R. Gurney, Jr.'s "Sweet Sue," from Yasmina Reza's "Art" to David Harrower's "Blackbird" and from Jane Anderson's "The Quality of Life" to Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's play "Doctor Cerberus," Harold Pinter's play "Old Times" and the world premiere of Beau Willimon's "The Parisian Woman," just to name a few, Culp has proven what a talented and versatile actor he is. Most recently Culp stared in the West coast premire of Anthony Giardina's play "The City of Conversation" at The Wallis in Beverly Hills, CA.

For his part in Tony Kushner's "Angels in America" Culp won the Drama-Logue Award for Outstanding Performance and for Nicky Silver's "Raised in Captivity" the Drama-Logue Award for Outstanding Ensemble.

As a former member of the "Interact Theater Company" in North Hollywood, Culp took part in several plays that run through the Interact festivals from 1997 until 2000.

Steven Culp has also worked with L.A. Theatre Works on several occasions, participating in the award-winning, critically-acclaimed radio theatre series, "The Play's The Thing," where "live-in-performances" are recorded in the state-of-the-art sound, complemented by intricate sound designs and on-stage effects. Performed in front of live audiences with the use of microphones with scripts in hand, the actors' performances are recorded for later broadcast on public radio stations across the US. Culp's debut performance was in Richard Nelson's The General From America (1989). Years later, he returned to L.A. Theatre Works for Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's play Dr. Cerberus (2010). Arthur Miller's Death of a Saleman (2011) put him on stage alongside Stacy Keach and Jane Kaczmarek. His most recent recording was of Michael Hollinger's Opus (2012).
