Dana Delany to star in Beau Willimon's 'The Parisian Woman' at SCR

The world premiere of Beau Willimon's "The Parisian Woman" at South Coast Repertory will star TV veteran Dana Delany as one half of a powerful Washington couple. Actor Steven Culp will also appear in the new political drama.

"The Parisian Woman" will run April 14-May 5 in a production directed by Pam Mackinnon. The production is part of SCR's 2013 Pacific Playwrights Festival.

Willimon is the writer behind the recent Netflix series "House of Cards," based on the popular BBC drama of the same name. He also wrote the play "Farragut North," and co-wrote the screenplay for the movie adaptation "The Ides of March," directed by George Clooney.

"The Parisian Woman" is loosely based on the 1885 comedy "La Parisienne" by Henry François Becque.

Delany will play Chloe, a scheming political wife who is the engineer behind her husband's career. The actress currently stars in the ABC series "Body of Proof." She won Emmy Awards for her role in the long-running series "China Beach." Delany has acted in stage productions on Broadway and off-Broadway.

The role of Chloe's husband, Tom, has not been cast yet.

Culp will play the role of Peter, but the company was not able to provide a character description. The actor has appeared at South Coast Repertory in "Doctor Cerberus," "Raised in Captivity" and "Art."

The ensemble cast will also include Linda Gehringer and Rebecca Mozo.
