Desperate Housewives

The Best Thing That Could Ever Have Happened

Behind-the-scenes audio commentary on the 100th episode 513 "The Best Thing That Ever Could Have Happened" of "Desperate Housewives" by creator and producer of "Desperate Housewives" and Brenda Strong, actress who plays Mary-Alice Young, the omission narrator.

Strong: It's so nice to see him. You know, he adds so much to the show.

Cherry: I'm glad to have Steven back. That is one of those things, I like the story that we told where he died because I like what happened, but I wasn't particularly happy to lose the actor, because Steven was always such a gentleman and so professional.

Strong: They were such a great couple, too. I think that is what was so shocking when he died.

Cherry: Yeah.

Strong: We were not ready to let him go yet.

Cherry: He came back and of course it was just like slipping into an old coat, it was so comfy and it just felt so normal when he came back.

Strong: This is tricky because he actually told me it was difficult because he did not want to come across as such a macho kind of mean character. And yet, he really needed to get a hard line with this.

Cherry: This is one of the best things about this, that he plays a guy who is pushing his wife towards one kind of identity as a wife, like "I want you home, I want you doing this." But he is not some kind of stereo type of a jerk Steven adds a lot of humanity to it.
