Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai Robinson) has assembled the squad as Senator Joseph Cray (Steven Culp) has been kidnapped. Lyla has been assigned to rescue him along with the rest of the members of the squad. [...] The squad is approaching the compound where the Senator is being held. John wants to enter stealthly to keep the collateral damage low. Lyla tells him their mission is to rescue the Senator. The rest of the hostages aren't U.S. citizens.
[...]
The squad begins their assault on the compound. They attempt to rescue the Senator and after they have killed all the kidnappers, the Senator pulls a gun on Lyla. It was all planned by the Senator. He opens fire on the squad. Deadshot pushes Cupid out of harms way. Looks like someone just gained himself a stalker.
The Senator hijacks the squad's radio frequency (so they can't radio for extraction). He planned all of this to make himself look like a real American hero. Seems the Senator is thinking about running for president and an incident like this will send his polls skyrocketing. Assuming none of the squad makes it out alive to tell otherwise, of course. Or any of the other hostages. He plans on killing them all.
[...]
The compound is now under seige by the Senator's mercenaries. They have rigged the place with explosives and plan to kill the squad and all the hostages. Deadshot insists they are going to make it out alive along with the hostages.
[...]
At the compound, the Senator is apologizing to the hostages he's going to kill. Heck of a guy. The Diggles and Cupid storm the room and kill many of the mercenaries. The Senator threatens to blow everyone up. He wants to be president for the legacy and dying a hero is just as good. The three disarm. The Senator realizes one of the squad is missing. Deadshot lives up to his name: taking out all of the mercenaries and shooting the detonator out of the Senator's hand.
Cupid and the Diggles get the hostages to safety. [...]
Back stateside, Diggle watches the news. The Senator has bribed all the former hostages and pinned the whole thing on Deadshot. |
